1. Ahead of the 2019 elections, the National Assembly joint committee on the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, on Monday approved the sum of N143 billion.
Arising from a closed-door meeting at the National Assembly Complex, Abuja, the committee directed INEC to revert to the N143 billion proposed by Buhari in his letter to the National Assembly.
2. The chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Moshood Salvador, has dumped the party for the All Progressives Congress, APC.
Salvador, who made the announcement at his Salvador Towers residence in Lagos State on Monday, said he took the decision because all his efforts to move the PDP in the state forward had been frustrated by some elements in the party.
3. US president, Donald Trump, referred to his Nigerian counterpart, Muhammadu Buhari as “lifeless”, shortly after a meeting between the two leaders on April 30, Financial Times reported on Monday.
That meeting ended with Trump saying he never wanted to meet someone as lifeless as Buhari again, Financial Times reported, citing three persons familiar with the matter.
4. Dino Melaye, Senator representing Kogi west, has alleged there was a plan by the Nigerian Police to kill him.
Writing via his Twitter handle on Monday, Melaye said the police and Kogi government want to forcefully take him to Lokoja and kill him afterwards.
5. National Broadcasting Commission (NBC) on Monday announced that it would shut down radio and television stations owing the commission licensing fees.
The Director General, Is’haq Modibbo Kawu said that any broadcasting station that failed to come up with a payment plan before September 15 would be shut down.
6. Vice president Yemi Osinbajo has questioned how oil money was spent under previous administrations.
Osinabjo called out former presidents like Ibrahim Badamosi Babangida, Olusegun Obasanjo and Goodluck Jonathan, while answering questions from Nigerians at a town hall meeting in Minnesota, United States on Sunday.
7. The Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, has announced the commencement of its sale of Expression of Interest and Nomination forms for the 2019 general elections.
While the party’s Expression of Interest form goes for N2million for its presidential aspirants, the Nomination form is sold for N10m.

9. Former Kano State Governor and Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Presidential aspirant, Senator Rabiu Kwankwaso has declared that he regretted ever supporting President Muhammadu Buhari in 2014 against the then President Goodluck Jonathan.
Kwankwaso said he and other people that dumped the PDP to bring in Buhari as president were currently regretting their actions.
10. The Federal Government has approved N2 billion for the establishment of Nigerian Army University, Biu, Borno State.
Executive Secretary, Tertiary Education Trust Fund, Abdullahi Baffa, who made this disclosure on Monday, said approval for the funds was given by the Federal Executive Council, noting that the establishment of a university for the military was overdue.
